Letters written by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh show him to be a rational man rather than a mad genius.

Vincent Van Gogh was the the first child of his Dutch Parents. His father was a country minister and his mother was a high strung housewife. Sadly, he never actually met his parents as they buried him just hours after he was born.

In July of 1890, Vincent was weary, lonely and afraid. He went for a walk in the early morning, and nobody had seen him since. Worried for the troubled artist?s well being, he was found in a very critical state.

Vincent?s obsessive nature shows early in life, as he falls in love with a family member in mourning. His inability to accept rejection presents itself immediately afterward and a manic reputation boils to the surface.

1n Christmas Day in 1888 Vincent Van Gogh lay in a hospital near death. Suffering from massive seizures, his brother was horrified to learn that the struggling artist had brought the illness upon himself in one of the most savage ways possible.

Some of the most trying times in Van Gogh's life were also his most memorable and creative.
