The film “Blowing Bubbles” swept the competition in Minneapolis, taking 11 out of the 16 awards, including “Best Direction,” “Best Editing,” “Best Cinematography,” “Best Sound Design.” In Minneapolis alone there were over 25 films submitted to the film competition. “Team X” was made up of a power house team of Producers and Directors from Minneapolis, including Producer Bridget McGrath (Fortaleza Filmworks), Joe Schneider, Associate Producer Lawrence Bricker (Popular Front), Directer/DP/Editor Vaughn Juares (North Woods Advertising), Editor Jack Paar (BusyBoy Productions) and many other local MN talent contributing. “Blowing Bubbles” was moved into the National Film Race Tour in January of 2010 after taking top honors in Minneapolis where it won “Best Film of 2009” for U.S. and Canada.The filmmakers had just 24 hours to write, shoot, edit and score an original film no longer than 4 minutes (including credits) based on their theme and surprise element assignment.  The films were due back at the film drop-off location by 10PM on Saturday night and all the films were screened for the public at a local theater a few days later.  After the screenings, the top film from each city are streamed for all to see at filmracing.com.With all of the success this team of filmmakers has experienced, they have decided to give the grand prize money to the Haiti relief efforts. The team received a $2,500 dollar prize, which one hundred percent will go to the UN based CERF(Centralized Emergency Response Fund) for Haiti.
